Troubleshooting Tip: Easy Modem Power Cycle

modem If you can't connect to the Internet, power cycle your cable modem. To power cycle the cable modem and restore connectivity, follow the directions below:

1. The coaxial cable must be plugged securely into the modem and the wall outlet.

2. Unplug the cable modem from the wall. Leave the modem unplugged for two minutes.

3. Plug the cable modem directly into the wall outlet. Wait five minutes for the modem lights to cycle.

4. The lights on the modem should be steady. Open your Internet browser and try to visit web sites. If still unable to visit sites, continue to the next step.

5. Shut down the computer and turn off the power.

6. Turn on the computer. Try to surf again. If you are still having trouble, search our site for your cable modem's instructions. The lights and labeling on the cable modem will differ depending upon the type of modem.read more
